Ik ben Connie Aarsbergen. Sinds 2006 werk ik als docent bedrijfsethiek op de Hogeschool Windesheim, School of Management and Law, in Zwolle. Als docent heb ik voor Windesheim een aantal readers geschreven die tezamen moeten uitgroeien tot een waar boek.  

In heb in 2006 ook mijn proefschrift afgerond. De titel van dit proefschrift is: ‘Isaiah Berlin: A Value Pluralist and Humanist View of Human Nature and the Meaning of Life’.

Een belangrijk inzicht van Isaiah Berlin is dat het leven gekenmerkt wordt door dilemma’s en waardenconflicten. De waarden, idealen en doelen waar we als mens naar streven, kunnen met elkaar in conflict zijn. De inzichten uit mijn proefschrift kan ik thans heel goed toepassen op Windesheim. Eén van de competenties voor de studenten is het omgaan met morele en bedrijfseconomische dilemma’s in de  beroepspraktijk.  

Als praktische toepassing van de inzichten van mijn dissertatie heb ik in 2005 samen met de ANWB Belangenbehartiging workshops workshop ontwikkeld hoe met interne  waardenconflicten waardenconflicten omgegaan kan worden. In het vakblad Verenigingsmanagement hebben hierover in 2005 twee artikelen gestaan. 

Tijdens mijn promotieonderzoek (2000-2006) heb ik als docent filosofie aan de Vrije Universiteit gewerkt, waar ik diverse modules heb verzorgd op het gebied van filosofie, ethiek en wijsgerige antropologie. Ik heb o.a. ook als werkgroepdocent wijsgerige vorming voor economiestudenten verzorgd. 

Daarvoor heb ik in het bedrijfsleven en maatschappelijk middenveld gewerkt als PR/ marketing medewerkster en als management assistente. 

Naast bedrijfsethiek ben ik ook geïntereseerd in politieke filosofie. Voor het blad Liberaal Reveil van de Telderststiching (VVD) heb ik in het verleden een aantal artikelen geschreven. 

In 1999 ben ik als theoloog afgestudeerd. Mijn afstudeerscriptie was: ‘Plaatsbepaling van de ethiek van H.M. Kuitert. Een ethische theorie of antitheorie?”.

My name is Connie Aarsbergen. I am a teacher business ethics at Windesheim Zwolle. For bachelor students Management and Law I have written a few readers which will be published at this website (in Dutch only).  

In 2006 I have finished my thesis ‘Isaiah Berlin. A Value Pluralist and Humanist View of Human Nature and the Meaning of Life’. On this website, you can find a summary of my thesis and the introduction chapter, containing the aims and methods I have used for this study.

An important insight of Isaiah Berlin is that life is characterised by dilemma’s and value conflicts. Values, ideals and ends can be in conflict with each other. I can apply the insights of my thesis very well in my new job as teacher business ethics. One of the competencies bachelor students have to acquire is to be able to deal with dilemma’s in the moral and business economical field.  

As a practical application of my thesis, I have given workshops to the Royal Dutch Touring Club ANWB who in their public policy is confronted with the dilemma between the environment (for the tourists) and mobility (for the car drivers).  

During my promotion research I was teacher philosophy at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Before I studied theology and philosophy, I worked as a PR and marketing officer in business companies and NGOs.
